KENZO TAKADA  - 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Kenzo Takada is the founder of his eponymous label 'Kenzo’. Japanese born, Kenzo studied at Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College, after which he moved to Paris. This formative period in Paris was pivotal in developing the Kenzo style, and by 1970, he presented his first show at the Vivienne Gallery, and by 1971 was presenting his collections in New York and Tokyo. His sense of drama was apparent in his work and his shows, and he quickly found both fame and recognition from editors, pundits, and buyers alike. A prolific designer, the early 1980’s saw him launch his menswear collection and this was soon followed by his range of fragrances
including Kenzo de Kenzo and Kenzo pour Homme, among others as well as his own range of skincare. He has been active in designing beyond fashion, which has included tableware, home objects, and furniture. For over 50 years, this golden career has been one that has transformed the fashion industry, and he remains a much respected and sought after designer.
