The designer reveals a more conservative side with his New York Fashion Week debut collection At his New York Fashion Week debut
Slightly over a week ago, Lie Sang Bong unveiled to the fashion crowd a Fall/Winter 2014 collection that expressed his more-conservative-than-usual stance for the season. Drawing inspiration from the creative fields of art and commerce, the Korean designer revealed coats, jackets and gowns in bold, rich shades such as bright red and royal blue. Leather and fur were two key features of his collection; the former came most notably in a full-leather, fit-and-flare pleated dress, while the latter came in a variety of forms, from a touch on a dress to a full-blown display on a coat or vest. Despite the delicate fabrics and flowy skirts, the entire collection oozed a chic edginess that was further accentuated by the designer’s choice of hair and makeup: sleek, severely-side-parted hair and heavily-lined eyes.
