The appointment of Nguyen Cong Tri as Vietnam’s first senior member of the ACF

In recent years, the creative genius of Nguyen Cong Tri has on many occasions, caught the attention of the Asian Couture Federation. Not only does each and every piece of his design collection seek to tell a story, his vast influence has also been instrumental at shaping the Vietnamese fashion landscape, as it is known today.

A visit to his stately atelier earlier this year had only affirmed the Federation’s decision to welcome the Saigon native, award-winning designer to the ranks of ACF’s illustrious ranks of top-notch couturiers.

The official appointment was made at a Press Conference in Ho Chi Minh City– at the grandeur Park Hyatt Hotel – on the 6th of July 2014. Founding President Dr. Frank Cintamani’s initiated the momentous occasion with the presentation of the official certificate to Cong Tri, who in turn, ceremoniously robed Vice-President Emily Hwang with a collectable piece from his prized archive.

The announcement which came shortly after the ACF’s induction of Ms. Le Thi Quynh Trang earlier this year, as its first Vietnamese governor, sent key media and press speculating the significance of this ‘double representation’ and its possible impacts on the Vietnamese fashion landscape.
