ACF Awards Gala 2014

For the fourth consecutive year, FIDé Fashion Weeks will endeavour to further push creative boundaries in the world of fashion with the first fashion awards in Asia, held at the glamorous and exclusive Marina Bay Sands.

The Asian Couture Federation (ACF) Awards Gala will be a celebration of the creativity and craftsmanship of the most elite couturiers, and the achievements of the world’s foremost fashion industry leaders and influencers. The gala will also bring together fashion luminaries, renowned celebrities and the world’s most respected media for this landmark fashion affair. Further, an expected attendance of four hundred key guests, VIPs and fashion luminaries will be present to grace the event and enjoy an evening of exceptional cuisine and fine wines.

A landmark moment in Asia’s fashion landscape, the ACF Awards Gala will recognise the world’s leading individuals, across a spectrum of categories from fashion journalism to education, for their outstanding contribution to fashion. It will also include a special award dedicated to the long-standing excellence of individuals over time with the Asian Couture Federation Lifetime Achievement Award. This initiative will mark the first fashion awards in Asia of an international calibre, creating another monumental milestone in Asian fashion history.

Commenting on the evening, Asian Couture Federation Founding President Dr. Frank Cintamani says, “The Asian Couture Federation is delighted to present the Awards Gala as a meaningful way of celebrating our first anniversary. More importantly, it reflects the great strides we have made in building our networks and relationships as well as influence on the world stage. The evening pays homage to this, with the presence of so many designers, key fashion influencers, and media personalities.

A key component of the evening will include an exquisite showcase featuring the most comprehensive runway presentation of couture to take place in one evening, at one location by couturiers from the Asian Couture Federation, La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, AltaRoma and the newly-formed MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Couture Council.

During the evening, a couture exhibition featuring an extensive line up of the most representative works from all presenting designers. Carefully curated seminal and iconic pieces from each of the couturiers will be on display, designed to illuminate the considerable workmanship and attention to detail that goes into creating every piece.

In addition, the formal induction of further designers into the ACF as both ‘Invited Member’ and ‘Asian Couturier Extraordinaire’ will mark a significant step towards the expansion of the ACF to include new markets, notably Vietnam and Australia. The formal induction of new Governors will further consolidate the ACF’s governing body, which comprises of Asia’s leading fashion leaders and opinion formers.

In the spirit of philanthropy, a ‘live’ auction will also be held to raise funds for the Asian Couture Federation and support its work in promoting and nurturing Asia’s very best fashion talent. With exclusive experiences and opportunities to own couture gowns by leading designers, it will be an auction unlike any other.

Closing the night off will be the ‘Couturista’ fashion party. Hosted by ACF Vice-President Ms. Emily Hwang, guests will be taken into the backstage world of fashion. The glamour, drama and personalities that make up the behind-the- scenes of fashion will entertain and reveal a side of fashion that few get to see.
