Michael Cinco Makes Paris Fashion Week Debut

Dubai-based talent Michael Cino has entered the fashion history books after becoming the first Filipino designer to present at Paris Fashion Week.

Michael Cino, who is a renowned style star in the UAE thanks to his couture collections and his popular shows in region’s own fashion weeks – Fashion Forward – has made his Paris Fashion Week debut and boy was did he make an incredible statement, receiving a rapturous standing ovation.

Cinco sent 30 pieces from his latest couture and first pret-a-porter range, down the catwalk at L’Orangerie Ephémère in Le Jardin des Tuileries. The successful experience proved to be understandably emotional for the star who said: “I cried a little before and after the show – the entire process has been such an emotional journey for me. I’m so very thankful for such a humbling opportunity.”

Cinco is the latest in a line of UAE-based designers creating a stylish storm in international fashion weeks. Fatema Fardan was the first Emirati to showcase at New York Fashion Week and, of course, one of our favourite couture darlings Rami Al Ali has been a favourite in Paris for some time now.

Presenting his collection in Paris has long been a dream for Cinco who said in an interview with Gulf News: “Paris is the centre of fashion and it’s the ultimate dream of every designer to show there. It has been mine since I started my career.”

His 30-piece collection was a shining example of his ethereal style with bespoke gowns boasting his signature ultra-feminine silhouettes, their luxurious fabrics and hand-finished crystal embellishments.

The past few years have been a huge success for Cinco, who designed many of the dresses for Mila Kunis in the Hollywood blockbuster Jupiter Ascending. Jennifer Lopez also wore one of his gowns to last year’s AMA awards and celebrity client list includes Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Not bad.

We predict a stratospheric rise for Michael Cinco and we can’t wait…
