ACF member designer shows his first couture collection
With feverish, almost rock-star reception and accoutre worthy of his celebrated clientele,Indonesian designer and ACF alumni, Tex Saverio, debuted his first couture collection in front of the 1500-strong audience at the Dian Ballroom, Raffles, Jakarta ( May 25th 2016) This Indonesian design-superstar in rising, whose dresses have adorned an array of music ( Lady Gaga) and film ( Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Hunger Games’) a-listers, has taken a timely method to his first couture presentation.
‘It took me two years, because I wanted this collection to be special. All pieces were painstakingly made by hand and in true couture style. This is my utmost contribution to Indonesia’s creative industry’,says Saverio.
Organised by Dian Muljadi, the publishing director of Fimela.com and Asian Couture Federation Governor, the show titled ABSOLUTEX was presented on this occasion to regional media influencers and high society clientele to a great acclaim.
‘I’ve collaborated with Tex since 2014 and was also instrumental for his ACF elite-membership. I’ve always believed in his talent and creativity. So when he proposed to stage a couture show, I gave all my support to make it happen,” said this pivotal ,Indonesian media figure during the press conference.
The collection (‘Trism’) was a spectacle in every sense of the word, presented artistically in three parts. Every segment ( Purity, Passion, Evolution) had it’s own visual theme, partly achieved by giant LED screens behind the extended catwalk. ‘Purity’ was all about white, intricately made, sensuous gowns that sparkled just like ice-crystal/water visuals setting the mood of the look. ‘Passion’ was dominated by black, lacy dresses and rich embroidery and ‘Evolution’ combined white and gold palette with out-of-this-world capes. The final look of the collection undoubtedly swooned the audience with it’s artistic grandeur and couture execution. It was a metallic gown with, almost, sculptural silhouette steeped in Saverio’s futuristic, signature vision.
Working on this show Saverio collaborated with fellow Indonesian and Asian Couture Federation member, Rinaldy A Yunardi, creating sophisticated head pieces for the collection, while Shu Uemura international artistic director, Kakuyasu Uchiide oversaw the makeup design.
‘Tex always brings his vision and hard work, which made him one of the region’s best talents. The time he took to prepare this collection is a testament that every designer needs to walk first, before they can run,” said Frank Cintamani, the President of the Asian Couture Federation.
