London Collections’ Men: Songzio has arrived
‘For the first time in a decade, SONGZIO decided to show at London Collections: Men rather than take its usual spot at Paris Fashion Week. ‘It was one of the best collections we saw at the men’s show.’ This is how the influential menswear ‘Bible’, the British GQ, described the presence of the ACF Governor, SONGZIO and his uber-cool showcase at one of the most important fashion weeks in the world. Scheduled on the last day of LC:M SONGZIO’s show gained the prominent spot and the spotlight to match.
‘I was honored to be invited by the British Fashion Council to show this year at LC:M. London can be seen as a metaphor for my collection; a contrast between the modern and the traditional, young and old, darkness and light. It’s a global city for art and fashion, where style conventions are re-invented and re-imagined – there’s no better backdrop that reflects the essence of my collection.” explained Mr Song before his London premiere.
Named ‘Ocean’ and inspired by his own artworks, SONGZIO’s SS17 collection as seen at LC:M incorporated hues of ultra blue, aquamarine and compose blue all of which defined his colour palette for this season. With soft layering placed alongside structured silhouettes this London collection stayed true to SONGZIO’s renowned, modernist aesthetics.
For the first time, SONGZIO introduced eight womenswear looks to the runway; a capsule collection created for COUTURíSSIMO which is a groundbreaking fashion platform conceptualised by the Asian Couture Federation. Amongst the eight exquisite looks the London audience was able to see a cotton stretch jacket with vertical stroke embroidery, a masculine androgynous tux and innovative knitwear featuring silk organza and chiffon completed with wool and silk muslin accessories.
The front row at SONGZIO’s LC:M showcase was packed with celebrated men of fashion such as Johannes Huebl, Jim Chapman, Darren Kennedy ,Dougie Poynter, Craig Mc Ginlay and Hu Bing. Still, nothing topped the presence of the ‘Bond girl’, Naomie Harris clad in SONGZIO’s COUTURíSSIMO attire which according to the best-selling Daily Mail ‘combined both a saucy, sartorial streak and a fashion forward look’.
