Songzio named new Council Fashion Designers of Korea (CFDK) Chairman

The ACF Governor, Zio Song or Songzio, as he is mostly known internationally, has recently been named the new chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of Korea ( CFDK). This once dubbed, ‘best menswear designer in Korea’, becomes a spokesperson and industry ambassador for his native country globally, whilst continuing his prolific career and other creative titles, including the special one with the Asian Couture Federation.

Apart from mentoring some 300 designers on CFDK’s portfolio, Mr Song will also help organise a bi-annual Seoul Fashion Week that in recent years has grown in stature as one of the biggest and most original in Asia. ‘From the fervour of the street style photographers and the hysteria of rabid fans following K-pop stars around the shows to the music-driven stunts and the sheer number of looks on the offer, the fashion week experience is multiplied and intensified here — and slickly showcased at the Zaha Hadid-designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza’ (BoF). The list of prominent media invited to Seoul over the seasons has been on the increase together with key-buyers from Barneys, Harrods and MatchesFashion.com.With the appointment of Korea’s best recognised designer and ACF’s Governor as the new CFDK chairman, it’s expected for Seoul Fashion Week to become a key date for the fashion industry, both in Asia and internationally.

After more than ten years of showing in Paris, Mr Zio Song presented his last collection in London ( which included his capsule collection for COUTURíSSIMO) prompting him to compare experiences and fashion scenes. ‘London reminded me that fashion was a fun business’, said Mr Song. In this spirit and with his latest appointment Songzio is surely embarking on extraordinary job of building the profile of Korean fashion industry and Asian design worldwide.
